Dhaka, April 30, 2026: Biman Bangladesh Airlines has taken a major step toward fleet expansion by signing a landmark agreement with Boeing to acquire 14 brand-new aircraft.

Under the agreement, the national carrier will add 10 wide-body Boeing 787 Dreamliner and 4 narrow-body Boeing 737 MAX aircraft to its fleet.

The signing ceremony took place at Hotel InterContinental Dhaka on Wednesday evening, April 30, at 7:30 PM. The event was graced by Ms. Afroza Khanam, Honorable Minister of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism, as Chief Guest, while Dr. Khalilur Rahman, Honorable Minister of Foreign Affairs, attended as Guest of Honor.

Special Guests included M. Rashiduzzaman Millat, Honorable State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism, and Humayun Kabir, Honorable Adviser to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs. Also present were Rumee A. Hossain, Chairman of Biman’s Board of Directors, His Excellency Brent T. Christensen, U.S. Ambassador to Bangladesh, and Mr. Paul Righi, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Boeing, along with senior officials from the Government of Bangladesh and Boeing.

Speaking at the event, Biman’s Managing Director and CEO, Kaizer Sohel Ahmed, stated that the addition of fuel-efficient and technologically advanced aircraft will modernize the airline’s fleet, enhance operational efficiency, and expand its international route network—further strengthening Bangladesh’s position in the global aviation market.

Aligned with the government’s “Bangladesh First” vision, the agreement is expected to boost economic growth, strengthen global connectivity, and significantly improve passenger experience.

Beyond aviation, the deal is anticipated to stimulate tourism, accelerate economic activities, and create skilled employment opportunities through technology transfer and workforce development in Bangladesh.

As a vital lifeline for Bangladeshi expatriates worldwide, Biman aims to ensure safer, more reliable, and more comfortable travel with these new aircraft additions.

This milestone marks a new chapter for both Biman and Bangladesh’s aviation sector, bringing the country closer to its ambition of becoming a leading regional aviation hub.
